What makes us different

Healthy Living

Children are encouraged to eat healthily and to make good choices when it comes to food, drink and exercise. Children are encouraged to play outside whatever the weather, to experience all weathers. We have our own cook who cooks all our lunches, food is freshly cooked each day and biscuits and cakes are made at the setting and are all homemade. We have a Summer and Winter Menu for a variety of foods throughout the year.🍎🥕

graduation ceremony

To celebrate our children’s successes whilst they are with us, we hold a graduation ceremony to celebrate with children, staff and their families, it is a great day to share the memories of the children’s time at Traquinas and a tear or two is shed.🎓

swimming

In the hotter months, we take the children swimming at the Thetford Leisure Centre. Swimming is lots of fun for people of all ages and children especially love getting in the water and enjoying themselves with their friends. But it is not just fun, swimming can provide lots of health benefits which can help to keep your children healthy and happy at the same time: Swimming keeps your child’s heart and lungs healthy, improves strength and flexibility, another great thing about swimming is that children of any age or ability can take part and it is more accessible for children with additional needs than almost any other sport. And is the only sport that can save your child’s life. 💦

outings

We enjoy taking the children on outings around Thetford and elsewhere, we enjoy taking them to the park, the library and even for a mini baby chino at Costa. We have visited Church Farm where we got to feed baby lambs, ride on a tractor and the Fire Station, using hoses and learn all about fire safety. These were enjoyed by all our families at Traquinas. 🐥🚒

care home visits

We visit our friends at Ford Place Care Home and Alexander Court, they share various activities with the residents, who look forward to the visits and are always pleased to see the children. 😄 Interacting with people of a different generation can be very valuable to both parties. The children benefit from the praise and feedback they receive from the care home residents, and the residents, who could be lonely and socially isolated, enjoy the interaction with the children. The children also learn about the differences between generations and about the world. They understand that sometimes they need to speak quietly, but sometimes it is necessary to speak more loudly if an older person is having difficulty hearing them. Their play often reflects what they have learnt about the older generation, and their parents appreciate this extra aspect of social life they experience. ❤️

famly app

We hold Parents Evenings twice a year where parents receive a report about their child and an update all about their child’s current developmental progress. 🌙📚 We have an app called Famly to support our strong relationship between Parents and Staff, on Famly we can register nappy changes, sleep times, food eaten during the day, anything that the children have been up to and so much more. Which will go straight to your phone, so you can be kept up to date throughout the day about your child. This is a live app, so you will see it as it happens. 👨‍👩‍👧

Traquinas Nature

We love getting outside with the children and it is one of our passions here at Traquinas,

At Traquinas Nature we do weekly visits and walks to lots of places to do outdoor activities/classes with a variety of activities to get the child enjoying being outside🐿

Children of all ages benefit greatly from their outdoor environment and we want to promote this.

We do Traquinas Nature in all weather, making sure al the children are wearing appropriate clothing and shoes.

“There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing”

Food Bank and Clothes Bank

At Traquinas something that is very important to us Is supporting families wherever we can therefore we started our own Traquinas Food Bank/ Clothes bank.

We have a box outside our nurseries where items can be donated, alternatively parents and the general public can request clothes or a food parcel via our Famly App or our Facebook

Yoga & Mindfulness

We use Yoga and Mindfulness across all ages, to support regular yoga practice helps promote a healthier body through poses that stretch, strengthen and build coordination too. Yoga helps children understand how to use their breathing to reduce stress and feel in control when they feel anxious. We use stories to engage the children, which holds a mindful message to take away; whether it’s about building confidence, finding inspiration or simply following your dream. 🌟✨

Speech and Language Therapy

As a setting, we have noticed Speech and Language is an issue currently within Early Years. As a setting we have a private Speech and Language therapist come in to work with our children. This service will be free for children and will be completely funded by us Traquinas.

spanish lessons

We have Spanish lessons every two weeks in the pre-school room, which boosts empathy and it supports cross-cultural understanding and the children love enjoying additional languages and they are described as being ‘sponges’ at a young age making it easier for them to pick up. 🇪🇸
